A name, they say, is a title—a word or set of words by which a person, animal, place, or thing is known, addressed, or referred to. But Greek leads me to believe that a name is beyond just a title; it’s a prophecy, an anoma—character. When I say He knows my name, I mean He knows my character, my very essence, my makeup, and my spiritual sagacity. He knitted me together in my mother's womb, forming my very being, bones, and tissues, and planned out my life. He not only knows my name, but He also knows who I am and who I will become. How could the One who picked out my name not know it? He knows the spelling of every syllable and how it should be pronounced.
